The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, which convened in Asaba, Delta State, has ruled that Ndudi Elumelu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the rightful winner of the 2023 House of Representatives election for Aniocha-Oshimili Federal Constituency.

The tribunal declared the nullification of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Ngozi Okolie, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, as the winner of the same election.

The tribunal’s decision was based on its findings that Okolie was not properly sponsored by the Labour Party, as he was not a member of the party during the party’s primary held on May 28, 2022.

Consequently, the tribunal declared Ndudi Elumelu of the PDP, who ranked second in the election, as the legitimate winner.

Ndudi Elumelu, the current Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives, filed the petition, seeking the tribunal’s intervention to disqualify Okolie, who had been declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
