2027: APC Chairman, Speaker, Others Back Hamzat For Lagos Governorship Ticket

According to Ireporter Online, the bid of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, to clinch the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections received a significant boost on Thursday as top party stakeholders openly declared their support for his aspiration. The APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, alongside the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Hamzat, who led a delegation of his supporters, visited the APC secretariat in Ogba, Acme Road, where he held discussions with party leadership, including members of the State Working Committee led by Ojelabi. He also paid separate courtesy visits to Speaker Obasa and Senator Solomon at their respective residences as part of wider consultations.

While addressing party leaders, Hamzat emphasized the strategic importance of Lagos to Nigeria’s stability and progress, stressing that the state must not experience any setback. He also reiterated the need for unity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling for strong support to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC in Lagos State. He further alleged that opposition elements were attempting to undermine the administration’s achievements, but maintained confidence in the party’s popularity and performance.

In his response, Ojelabi expressed strong confidence in Hamzat’s capacity, describing him as a competent and humble leader, while affirming the party’s full support for his political ambition.
