NFF Opens Talks With Newcastle Striker William Osula

Osula, 22, was born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and a Nigerian-French father, making him eligible to represent Nigeria, Denmark, and France at senior international level. Although he has featured for Denmark at youth level and was included in their March squad for matches against North Macedonia and the Czech Republic, he is yet to make his senior debut.

Football journalist Farzam Abolhosseini disclosed on that Nigeria have made contact with the striker through his heritage in a bid to persuade him to commit to the Super Eagles.

He noted that Osula had been called up by Denmark in March but did not feature in any of the matches, leaving his international future still open.

With eligibility for three nations, Nigeria are reportedly keen to act quickly to secure his commitment before he makes a senior appearance for Denmark.

In a related development, Hamburger SV are expected to decide by 15 June whether to make the loan move for Nigerian winger Philip Otele permanent. The Bundesliga club initially paid a €1 million loan fee to sign him from FC Basel in January and would need to pay €4.5 million to complete a permanent deal.

German outlet Bild reports that talks are scheduled for May, although no final decision has been reached. Otele has so far recorded one goal and one assist in nine appearances, and is currently serving a two-match suspension following a red card in the derby loss to Werder Bremen.

Hamburg head coach Merlin Polzin has praised the winger’s impact, describing him as a valuable attacking option and expressing confidence in his future contribution to the team.
