Dire Concerns Raised For Health And Safety Of Detained Biafra Leader Nnamdi Kanu In Custody

Self-imposed Prime Minister of Biafra Government-in-Exile and Biafra advocate, Simon Ekpa, voices concern over the health and well-being of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Ekpa warns of the possibility of Kanu dying while in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) if urgent measures are not taken.

Ekpa claims that Kanu’s doctors have left the country, making it crucial to urgently provide proper medical attention to prevent his death while in DSS custody. Ekpa communicated this distressing message via a statement posted on Twitter on Saturday.

The statement also suggests that the DSS may restrict visitations to Kanu in the upcoming weeks, prompting Ekpa to call on fellow Biafrans to stay resilient and offer prayers for their incarcerated leader’s survival.

While expressing his concerns, Ekpa emphasized that they would not forgive Kanu’s siblings if the DSS prevents anyone from visiting him in the coming weeks. The statement underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for immediate attention to Kanu’s health.

Nnamdi Kanu has been detained in the custody of Nigeria’s secret police, DSS, since his arrest in June 2021 in Kenya and subsequent extradition to Nigeria. This arrest came despite the Court of Appeal having previously dismissed the terrorism and treasonable felony charges against the IPOB leader.
