University Of Nigeria Cancels Post-UTME Exam, Gives Reason And Fresh Directive

Due to the ongoing security concerns and economic challenges facing Nigeria, the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) administration has officially announced the cancellation of its post-University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for prospective students in the 2023/2024 academic year.

Initially slated to take place between October 3 and October 28, 2023, the post-UTME examination will no longer proceed. This decision, communicated through a notice dated September 7, 2023, and signed by the Registrar, Dr. C. N Nnebedum, has been made in light of the uncertain circumstances prevailing in the country.

As an alternative, the screening of applicants will be conducted based on duly authenticated Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME scores, O’level certifications, and Direct Entry results, in lieu of the traditional Post-UTME Computer-Based Test (CBT) Examination.

Dr. Nnebedum emphasized that this resolution stems from the prevalent uncertainties and logistical challenges associated with students journeying from various regions of the country to the institution for the examination.

Nonetheless, she cautioned that “any candidate who fails to promptly upload their verified O’level results to the JAMB caps system will not be considered for admission.”

All other instructions regarding registration for the screening, utilizing O’level and Direct Entry results on the UNN portal, as previously outlined on the school’s website, will proceed as originally planned.
