Governor Abdullahi Sule has formally presented Senator Aliyu Wadada to President Bola Tinubu as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Ireporter Online, the presentation took place at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, where Governor Sule reaffirmed the party’s choice of Senator Wadada as its preferred flag bearer for the forthcoming governorship race in the state. The move is seen as a major step in consolidating internal party consensus as political activities gradually build toward 2027.

It would be recalled that Governor Sule had earlier publicly endorsed Senator Wadada during a meeting with political appointees at the Government House in Lafia, indicating early alignment within the party structure regarding his preferred successor.

Senator Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West in the 10th Senate, recently defected from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the APC, a development widely interpreted as strategic positioning ahead of the governorship contest.

Meanwhile, the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, has ruled out the possibility of automatic tickets for National Assembly members seeking re-election in 2027. He stated this during a media interaction in Abuja, stressing that the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act clearly outline the process for candidate emergence.

Yilwatda maintained that all aspirants would be subjected to a uniform selection process, noting that performance would play a key role in determining who secures the party’s ticket for the next election cycle.
