Exclusive Revelations Unveiled: Peter Obi Accused of Lavish Spending—11Bn On Governor’s Office, N2.8 Billion For Education In 2009 & 2008—While Simultaneously Criticizing the Current Government
An exclusive document, currently making waves on various social media platforms, sheds light on how Peter Obi, former Anambra State Governor, allegedly misappropriated funds during his tenure. Despite his recent criticism of the 2024 budget proposed by President Tinubu, accusing it of frivolous spending, a Twitter user unearthed documents from 2008 and 2009, revealing similar financial practices by Obi. The documents disclose staggering figures, indicating that Obi allocated approximately 11 billion naira for the Governor’s office and 2.8 billion naira for education. Other allocations include 427.5 million for the deputy governor’s office, 1.3 billion for the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) office, 72 million for the Abuja liaison office, 70.6 million for the Lagos liaison office, and 632 million for the office of the Head of Service.

These revelations have stirred controversy, especially as Obi had previously advocated for reducing the cost of governance. Critics argue that his actions contradict his words, and the timing is particularly significant as it coincides with the political climate surrounding the recent election.
While Obi has been a vocal critic of the present government, particularly the budget proposed by President Tinubu, the emergence of these documents raises questions about the consistency of his stance. The Twitter user’s expose suggests that Obi’s past actions mirror those he now condemns, with accusations of lavish spending on various government offices.
It’s worth noting that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Obi, has been labeled by some as a mere “hype man” due to the perceived failures of the APC since 2015. Additionally, critics highlight his alignment with the ideology of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku, whom he regards as a mentor and previously served as a running mate. The document’s release adds another layer to the ongoing political discourse, drawing attention to the actions of key figures in Nigerian politics.
