This initiative followed the successful dismantling of an inter-state child abduction and trafficking syndicate by the Kano State Police.

The syndicate, which operated for over a decade, engaged in various illicit activities such as inter-state trafficking, abduction, and the buying and selling of minors across seven states, including Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Lagos, Delta, Anambra, and Imo.

Commissioner of Police Mr. Husseini Gumel revealed that diligent investigations led to the arrest of nine suspects connected to the syndicate.

Expressing tears of joy, Governor Yusuf commended the commendable efforts of the Kano State police command in bringing down the criminal network.

Despite the positive outcome, Governor Yusuf expressed dismay at the discovery that seven children abducted from Bauchi State had been trafficked and sold in Anambra and Lagos States.

He urged parents to remain vigilant and attentive to their children’s well-being as a fundamental responsibility.

Governor Yusuf called on his counterpart in Bauchi State to take decisive legal action against the arrested suspects.

The nine apprehended suspects, along with the recovered children, were intercepted at Mariri motor park in Kano while en route to Lagos and Anambra States.

The Kano State governor, in a gesture of support, donated N500,000 to each of the seven recovered children. Mrs.

Sha’awanatu Yusuf, the Director of Public Prosecution at the Bauchi State Ministry of Justice, affirmed the unity between Kano and Bauchi States and assured that legal steps would be taken to ensure the suspects faced justice and the full consequences of the law.
