During a meeting with the business community and stakeholders at the Kano State Government House, Governor Yusuf expressed his commitment to seeking President Tinubu’s intervention in alleviating the prevailing hunger situation in Kano State. While acknowledging the nationwide nature of the challenge, Governor Yusuf emphasized the need to advocate for Kano State as his primary constituency.
“I will personally go and ask President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and check the prevailing hunger situation in Kano State, so as to save our people from starvation. We know that other parts of the country are experiencing the same thing, but we will make a case for Kano State, being our constituency,” Governor Yusuf stated.
Addressing the issue of inflation, Governor Yusuf urged the business community to refrain from hoarding foodstuffs and appealed for their cooperation in providing relief to the suffering populace. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to curtail the high increase in the cost of food items.
“The purpose of this gathering is to fine-tune modalities on how to address the menace of high inflation because people are really suffering, and we need to do something about this,” he noted. The Governor also called on the business sector to play its part by avoiding hoarding essential commodities and ensuring their availability to the public.
In return, Governor Yusuf assured the business community of the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment and encouraged them to fulfill their tax obligations adequately. This proactive approach aims to initiate measures that will bring relief to the citizens and mitigate the impact of economic challenges.
