During the Ishai prayer, worshippers were abruptly confronted by armed assailants who brazenly stormed the mosque, indiscriminately spraying bullets at the congregation.

Eyewitnesses recounted the chaos that ensued, with one survivor describing the horrific scene: “They just walked in and started shooting,” narrated the witness. “Two people were killed right there, and another one was shot as he tried to run away. It was chaotic.”

The ferocious attack claimed the lives of three individuals and inflicted injuries upon four others, who are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kankara. Tragically, the assailants also abducted a man and two women from the village, leaving behind a community reeling in shock and grief.

Brave attempts at resistance were met with tragic consequences, as one victim who sought to defend against the onslaught was overpowered and slain by the marauding gunmen.

In a further act of barbarity, the gunmen targeted the home of Sani Maikifi, a vigilant member, during the early hours of Thursday morning. Though Maikifi managed to evade capture, his family bore the brunt of the attackers’ brutality.

“They’ve been after him for a while now,” revealed a source. “They came looking for him, but he managed to get away. So, they took his wife and son instead.”

The heinous attack has plunged the community into mourning and heightened fears of further violence in the region, underscoring the urgent need for security measures to safeguard innocent lives.
