Amidst heightened anticipation, 576 delegates will converge at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin to determine the destiny of the 10 aspirants competing for the party’s ticket.

Having undergone rigorous scrutiny, the PDP had previously greenlit several contenders who expressed their desire to secure the party’s nomination.

Among the distinguished hopefuls cleared for the gubernatorial primary are notable figures such as Hon. Omosede Igbinedion, former Edo State APC chairman Anselem Ojezua, and former managing director of Sterling Bank, Dr Asue Ighodalo. Additionally, the roster includes prominent names like Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu and former House of Representatives member Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, among others.

Facilitating the electoral process is an esteemed committee chaired by Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, with Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwhori serving as co-chairman. The committee boasts a lineup of distinguished members, including Senator James Manager as secretary and Senator Bayero Nafada, among others.

In a statement issued by PDP State Organising Secretary Tony Anenih Jr, the intricate procedures governing the primary election have been delineated, underscoring the party’s commitment to a transparent and democratic process. The outcome of today’s primaries will herald the emergence of a candidate poised to carry the PDP flag in the forthcoming election sanctioned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
