Umar Damagum And Samuel Anyanwu Suspended In Dramatic PDP Shake-UpThe internal conflict within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has escalated, with a faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) suspending Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu over accusations of disloyalty to the party.

This follows earlier suspensions by a faction loyal to Damagum, which targeted National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade and National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba for similar reasons.

In a surprising twist, Ologunagba, despite being suspended by Damagum’s faction, released a statement on Friday announcing the suspension of both Damagum and Anyanwu from their roles.

The statement explained, “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has thoroughly reviewed the complaints against Acting National Chairman Illiya Damagum and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, particularly concerning a letter they addressed to the Court of Appeal in Appeal No: CA/PH/307/2024, which contradicts the party’s stance on the case involving 27 former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who switched allegiance from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The NWC condemned the actions of the Acting National Chairman and the National Secretary, labeling them as anti-party activities that violate the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) and their Oath of Office.”

As a result, the NWC, under Sections 57, 58, and 59 of the PDP Constitution, has suspended Illiya Damagum and Samuel Anyanwu from their respective positions and referred them to the National Disciplinary Committee for further review. Until the investigation is complete, the two officials are suspended from all NWC meetings, activities, and programs.
