Newly Elected Benue PDP Officials Locked Out Of Party Secretariat

The newly elected Benue State Working Committee members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) found themselves stranded on Friday at the party’s secretariat along Otukpo Road after discovering it was locked upon their arrival.

According to Naija News, the officials had arrived at the secretariat to assume their roles and receive handover notes from the caretaker committee, only to be met with locked doors.

Three weeks ago, former Governor Samuel Ortom, through his media aide Terver Akase, had announced that he had provided one of his buildings in Makurdi’s High-Level area for the PDP’s use. This move came after reports emerged of the caretaker committee being evicted from the party’s main secretariat.

However, Mede Bartholomew, the media aide to another former governor, Gabriel Suswam, denied that the caretaker committee had been evicted, claiming there was no evidence to support the claims.

When the new leadership, led by PDP Chairman Ezekiel Adaji, arrived at the secretariat on Friday, they were surprised to find it locked. Adaji attempted to contact the caretaker committee to find out why the building was inaccessible. The caretaker committee secretary responded, stating they had also just learned about the situation.

Speaking to journalists, Adaji said he plans to consult with relevant stakeholders to determine the next course of action.

The locked secretariat follows the state congress in which Adaji, a former member of the House of Representatives for Otukpo/Ohimini federal constituency, and other state working committee members were elected.
