Deadly Attack! PDP Politician And Brother Shot Dead In Cold Blood After Campaign Event

Raymond Timothy, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councillorship candidate for Pari Ward in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been reportedly shot dead by gunmen. The attack also claimed the life of his brother, James Timothy.

According to reports, the tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening while the two brothers were returning from a political campaign event in Kizachi Village. They were riding a motorcycle when the gunmen struck.

Barnabas Chawai, a prominent PDP member in the area, confirmed the incident to The PUNCH, raising concerns that the attack might have been politically motivated. Chawai urged security forces to act swiftly to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent further violence as the October 19 local government elections approach.

“The victim had three children, and his wife is pregnant with their fourth child,” Chawai added, highlighting the devastating impact of the attack.

John Wanneh, Secretary to the Village Head of Kizachi, also confirmed the incident. He recalled parting ways with the victim around 6 p.m. before hearing gunshots shortly after near guinea corn farms. Wanneh was unable to confirm whether the killing was politically motivated but appealed for government intervention to improve the village’s infrastructure.

“Security operatives can’t access the village due to poor roads and a river that is difficult to cross, a situation we’ve endured for a long time,” Wanneh lamented.

As of the time of this report, the Kaduna State Police Command had not yet issued an official statement regarding the attack.
