The Proposal and Its Fallout Senate Leader Michael Opeyemi tabled the contentious bill, titled ‘A bill for an Act to make provisions for the retirement age of staff of National Assembly Service and for other related Matters, 2024,’ advocating for an extension of the tenure for the Clerk and other National Assembly administrators.

Opposition Voices Ring Out Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe led the charge against the bill, challenging the rationale behind extending the tenure of National Assembly staff, particularly in comparison to other government agencies.
