With only Instagram itself boasting more followers than the 39-year-old Ronaldo, there’s a possibility that the Portuguese football legend could soon surpass the platform’s own follower count.
Messi’s meteoric rise to the 500 million milestone surged following his departure from FC Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain in 2021, further propelled by his pivotal role in leading Argentina to victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.

Notably, his celebratory post from the 2022 FIFA World Cup garnered over 75.5 million likes, setting a record that stands to date.
