300-Level Student Dies In Fire Incident At Female Hostel In Yobe Varsity

A tragic incident occurred at the Federal University, Gashua in Yobe State as a 300-level student from the Department of Geography lost her life in a fire incident. According to reports, the inferno broke out around 1 pm on Saturday, prompting students to flee for safety while others were evacuated to the specialist hospital in Gashua for medical attention.

The cause of the fire is still uncertain, although some students suspect it may have been caused by a cooking gas explosion.

In a related development, as Ramadan begins, the governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has adjusted the working hours for public servants in the state. According to a statement from the Chief Information Officer, Office of the Head of Service, Alhassan Sule Mamudo, public servants are now required to report to duty by 8:00 am and close at 3:00 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, the official hours will be from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
