According to Umahi, the rehabilitation works for the Third Mainland Bridge are estimated to require N21 billion, while the Carter Bridge will require N25 billion for its rehabilitation.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating condition of these critical bridges, Umahi emphasized the urgency of declaring an emergency to address the situation promptly. He warned that delaying the rehabilitation works could result in significant financial and safety risks, potentially leading to a reconstruction cost of N6 trillion.

“The cost of rehabilitation of the Third Mainland Bridge is estimated at N21 billion,” Umahi stated. “I want the National Assembly to note that this is the worst of our challenges on these two bridges. The cost of rehabilitation of Carter Bridge is N25 billion.”

Umahi’s disclosure underscores the pressing need to prioritize infrastructure maintenance and rehabilitation to ensure the safety and efficiency of vital transportation networks like the Third Mainland and Carter bridges in Lagos.
