Clarification: Dangote Palliatives Looted, Not Kebbi Government’s, Says Commissioner

Recent incidents of looting in Kebbi State, particularly involving food items, have sparked controversy and condemnation. During the conference held in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, Muazu attributed the public unrest to the Dangote Foundation, accusing it of diverting truckloads of 5kg bags of rice without informing local security agencies. This action, he suggested, fueled speculation among the public and contributed to the looting, as people suspected the foundation of intending to hoard the food items.

The state government condemned the looting, labeling the perpetrators as miscreants taking advantage of any opportunity for chaos. Muazu warned of severe repercussions for such unlawful activities in the future.

In response to the incident and to prevent future occurrences, a 13-member committee has been formed. This committee is tasked with investigating the looting and is expected to deliver a report within five days. The decision to establish this committee followed an extraordinary security meeting convened by state officials to devise strategies to mitigate such incidents.
