Matawalle’s statement comes in the midst of controversy sparked by remarks made by the Spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, expressing regret over the North’s support for Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

Dismissing the NEF’s influence, Matawalle emphasized that the forum holds little sway over the broader political landscape of the region.

Responding to criticisms from Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, who questioned Matawalle’s stance, the Minister rebuked him for expressing dissent despite being an appointee in the current government.

Asserting that Tinubu’s appointees have an obligation to promote the government’s achievements, Matawalle emphasized the importance of standing up against unjust attacks and misrepresentations of President Tinubu’s efforts.
