Matawalle Rebukes Katsina Elders, Labels Threat Against Tinubu Empty In CBN Relocation Dispute

Ireporteronline reported the elders’ forum opposing the planned move, asserting that Tinubu could lose the support of northern Nigeria unless the relocation is halted. They claimed the decision aimed to undermine the North’s economy deliberately.

In response, Matawalle released a statement in Abuja on Thursday, denouncing the elders’ remarks as incorrect and not reflective of Northern Nigeria’s stance on President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Matawalle dismissed the forum’s threat as empty and designed to sow hatred, disunity, and create divisions between Northern Nigeria and other regions.

The former Zamfara governor emphasized that Northern Nigeria needs security for lives and property, a commitment he believes President Tinubu is dedicated to providing.

Matawalle warned against anything that might jeopardize the nation’s democracy and create discord between the North and other regions, affirming that such actions would not be tolerated by the government.

He stated, “President Tinubu is for all Nigerians, and he has no interest or agenda against any of the six geopolitical zones of the country. The Renewed Hope Agenda of the president is geared towards setting things right for the realization of maximum economic development, security, and welfare of all Nigerians.

“Do Katsina elders have the right to speak on behalf of Northern people? How can the elders who failed to support the President and their own, the former President Muhammadu Buhari, to win Katsina State make such a reckless statement on behalf of the Northern people?”

Matawalle urged the elders to avoid disrupting the existing peace and harmony between the North and other regions with such statements and advised them to concentrate on fostering unity for the development of the country.
