ASUP Blasts Federal Polytechnic Offa’s Dismal ConditionThe Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) at Federal Polytechnic Offa has vehemently criticized the institution’s dire state.

In a statement released on Tuesday, ASUP Chairman Idowu Atilola attributed the deterioration to the alleged ongoing absence of key administrative figures, including the rector, bursar, and registrar.

The statement highlighted the union’s frustration: “We are deeply ashamed of the institution’s current deplorable condition. Recent issues include a disgraceful power disconnection by PHCN due to unpaid bills, deteriorating infrastructure, and a campus environment now likened to a Guinea Savanna overrun by wildlife.”

The union has expressed strong opposition to the ongoing neglect and has warned that, without immediate improvements, they may be forced to declare the institution unfit for both habitation and academic activities.

“We cannot continue to tolerate this level of mismanagement and neglect,” the statement continued. “The current administration is failing in its duties, and we have repeatedly flagged the gross incompetence and misconduct within the registry department.”

The union denounced various issues, including the mishandling of union agreements, failure to issue return letters to council election winners, fabricating false information to tarnish staff reputations, poor record-keeping, abuse of power, and other forms of office misconduct.

ASUP urged the management to undertake a thorough review of registry operations immediately, warning that failure to address these problems could lead to more severe actions.
