Police Bust Fake Employment Scam In Adamawa State

The Adamawa State Police Command announced the breakthrough in a statement released to DAILY POST on Tuesday morning, confirming that several arrests have been made.

According to the statement, signed by police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje, the operation was triggered by a complaint from Dr. Suleiman Saidu Bashir, Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Agency (ADSPHCA). Dr. Bashir reported that individuals were posing as state government officials, extorting money from unsuspecting citizens by issuing counterfeit employment letters.

In response, State Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police for Intelligence to launch an investigation.

The probe led to the initial arrests of Muhammed Ahmed Attahir, 31, and Abdulrahman Bashir Ahmad, 23, both residents of Rabe Street in Yola South Local Government Area. Further investigation revealed the involvement of Bello A. Suleiman, 59, a staff officer at the Fiscal Responsibility Commission in Yola, who is accused of aiding the scam.

Before their arrest, the suspects had fraudulently issued fake appointment letters to approximately ten individuals, extorting ₦400,000 from each and directing them to the Fiscal Responsibility Commission for alleged data processing.

Recovered from the suspects were one HP laptop, a thumbprint machine, and four counterfeit appointment letters, which have been seized as evidence.
