Pochettino Signs New USA Deal Until 2030 After World Cup Success

Mauricio Pochettino has extended his contract as head coach of the United States men’s national team, keeping him in charge until 2030 as US Soccer continues its long-term plans to strengthen the country’s football programme.

According to Ireporter Online, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea manager has been rewarded with a new deal after guiding the United States to the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which was hosted on home soil.

Pochettino, who was appointed in September 2024, will now take on expanded responsibilities alongside his coaching staff. Beyond managing the senior men’s team, the Argentine tactician will contribute to youth development, coaching education, collaboration with professional leagues and other technical programmes designed to improve football structures across the country.

The coach expressed excitement about continuing his work with US Soccer, stating that the federation has significant potential to grow and that he hopes his experience will help create stronger pathways for players, coaches and teams.

Pochettino said his ambition goes beyond results on the pitch, adding that he wants to make a lasting contribution to the development of football in the United States.

The United States produced a strong showing at the 2026 World Cup, finishing top of their group after victories over Paraguay and Australia. They later defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina in the knockout stage before their campaign ended with a 4-1 defeat to Belgium in the last 16.

The tournament marked the fourth consecutive World Cup where the United States exited at the round-of-16 stage.

US Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone praised Pochettino’s impact since taking over, highlighting the improved team spirit and confidence within the squad.

She said the coach had created a culture built on trust, unity and belief, adding that the federation is committed to continuing investment in the foundation he has helped establish.
