Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Challenges Court’s Ruling On DSS Evidence
Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Challenges Court’s Ruling On DSS EvidenceAloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has disputed the recent ruling of the Abuja Federal High Court.
Ejimakor contends that, contrary to the court’s finding, Kanu’s legal team had presented substantial evidence.
On Monday, Justice James Omotosho dismissed Kanu’s N1 billion lawsuit against the Nigerian government and the Department of State Services (DSS). The judge ruled that there was insufficient evidence to support claims that the DSS had obstructed Kanu’s access to his legal representatives while in custody.
Justice Omotosho stated that Kanu had not provided credible evidence to substantiate his allegations that the DSS and its Director General, Yusuf Bichi, had violated his fundamental rights.
Kanu had filed the suit, referenced as FHC/ABJ/CS/1633/2023, on December 4, 2023, seeking compensation for the alleged denial of legal access.
In response to the court’s decision, Ejimakor announced plans to appeal the ruling. He told DAILY POST, “I am currently preparing the notice of appeal. We had submitted extensive evidence, much of which is even available to the public.”
