Heartbreak Hits Kebbi: Fifth Pilgrim Dies In Saudi Arabia During 2024 HajjKebbi State is in mourning after another pilgrim from the state passed away during the 2024 Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Hajiya Maryamu Suleman Mayalo from Maiyama Local Government Area died on Sunday at King Abdulazeez Hospital in Mecca following a prolonged illness.

This brings the total number of pilgrims from Kebbi State who have died during this year’s Hajj to five.

Faruk Musa Inabo, the executive chairman of the state’s Pilgrims Welfare Agency, confirmed the sad news in a statement released on Monday.

Governor Nasir Idris extended his condolences, praying for Allah SWT to grant her Aljanna Firdausi (the highest paradise) and provide strength to her family during this difficult time.

Earlier reports from the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board indicated the death of another pilgrim, Abubakar Abdullahi from Gulma in Argungu Local Government Area, who died in Saudi Arabia just three weeks ago. Abdullahi had succumbed after a brief illness.

Governor Idris expressed deep sorrow over Abdullahi’s death, offering prayers for forgiveness and a place in Jannatul Firdaus. He also urged the deceased’s family, friends, and other Kebbi pilgrims to find solace and accept God’s will.

Previously, on May 27, 2024, another Kebbi pilgrim, Tawalkatu Busare Alako from Jega Local Government Area, passed away after a short illness. The following day, Lagos pilgrim Oloshogbo Idris died in Makkah shortly after completing the circumambulation of the Holy Kaaba.
