Heartbreaking Scene: 4 Killed As Trailer Falls Into Ditch In Ogbomosho [View Photos]

According to DAILY POST, several others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident, which occurred on Thursday night.

The incident took place near the Emaayo-Seminary area of Ogbomosho. Sources reveal that the trailer, traveling from Oyo towards Ilorin, fell into a ditch at a severely damaged section of the road. Passengers were thrown from the vehicle and remained trapped underneath until Friday morning.

The new Ibadan-Oyo-Ogbomosho-Ilorin expressway has been under construction since 2001, and the condition of the old road has been a major concern for locals.

An Ogbomosho resident named Kolapo voiced his frustrations: “We’ve made several appeals to both the state and federal governments to fix the road properly and finish the new Ibadan-Ilorin highway, but nothing has been done. The damaged section within Ogbomosho is less than 500 meters, yet the government has ignored our cries for nearly a year.”

He added that despite temporary repairs made by the community, the problem persists. Kolapo also criticized the state government for neglecting Ogbomosho, saying: “The Oyo-Iseyin road, a federal road, was rebuilt by the Oyo State government when the Federal Government failed to act. Why can’t they do the same for this road, which is only a short stretch?”
