This decision came after the commission reviewed 110 Pending Disciplinary Matters (PDM), 23 appeals, and several court-ordered cases, reflecting its commitment to maintaining accountability and discipline within the force.

PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani confirmed the move, stating that many of the dismissed officers would face prosecution by the Nigeria Police Force’s Legal Unit. Those dismissed included ten assistant superintendents, four deputy superintendents, two chief superintendents, and one superintendent.

Additionally, rank reductions were implemented for 19 officers, including an assistant commissioner of police and several superintendents, in a clear message that misconduct will not be tolerated at any level.

The plenary, chaired by retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, emphasized swift resolutions for disciplinary cases to allow untainted officers to advance their careers while ensuring offenders face appropriate sanctions.

This decisive action underscores the PSC’s dedication to restoring integrity within the police force, ensuring officers adhere to professional standards, and fostering public trust in law enforcement.
