The gunmen targeted Oyekanmi’s bullion van on Kuto Bridge, shot him, and stole large sums of money. Despite significant efforts, including the announcement of a N50 million reward by Governor Dapo Abiodun for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators, the killers remain at large.

Alamutu expressed his regret over the failure to solve the case, citing a lack of intelligence and information. However, he expressed confidence that his successor would continue the search for justice. He thanked the public and his colleagues for their support during his tenure, but reiterated that the unsolved murder was his only regret. Alamutu remains hopeful that future efforts will bring the criminals to justice.
