Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, announced the appointments on Friday, noting that the decision is part of the government’s efforts to enhance the country’s healthcare system and provide quality medical services to all citizens.

Among the appointed CMDs are Olusegun Sylvester Ojo, who will oversee the Federal Teaching Hospital in Akure, Ondo State, and Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi, who has been reappointed as CMD of the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe.

Other appointees include Dauda Abubakar Katagum, appointed CMD of the Federal Teaching Hospital in Azare, Bauchi State; Ikrama Hassan, who will head the newly upgraded Federal Teaching Hospital in Lafiya, Nasarawa State; Ali Mohammed Ramat, named CMD of the National Orthopedic Hospital in Maiduguri, Borno State; and Haruna Abubakar Shehu, appointed CMD of the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

Onanuga added that Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi’s second term began on September 5, 2024, while Dauda Abubakar Katagum’s tenure took effect from December 6, 2024.

The appointments are effective immediately, with each CMD serving a four-year term. President Tinubu congratulated the appointees and urged them to maintain high standards of professionalism and service.
