A mining worker identified as Adam Bahago, popularly known as Peter, has died after being struck by a collapsing rock at a mining site in the Kabusa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Daily Post reports that the tragic incident happened on Saturday, June 29, around 3:20 p.m. while Bahago was excavating the site, which is owned by Inhui Mining Company.

Bahago, who hailed from the Koro ethnic group in Kaduna State, was crushed by a large rock that fell directly on his head, leaving him with severe injuries.

According to the site manager, Brown Ekelechi John, the victim was immediately rushed to Asokoro General Hospital for medical attention. However, doctors at the facility confirmed him dead on arrival.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed that Bahago’s remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary, and his family has since been informed of the tragic loss.
