Seeds Of Hope: Rep Balami Lifts Farmers With Generous Fertiliser Distribution In Borno
The lawmaker representing Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Usman Midala Balami, has commenced the distribution of assorted bags of fertiliser to farmers across his constituency, primarily targeting grassroots communities reliant on agriculture for their livelihood — according to IReporter Online.
In a move described as timely and impactful, Dr. Balami stated that the initiative, which is part of his annual intervention programme, aims to cushion the effects of skyrocketing fertiliser prices and boost agricultural productivity across Askira-Uba and Hawul local government areas.
According to IReporter Online, the distribution aligns with his legislative agenda focused on food security, economic empowerment, and rural development.
While addressing journalists at the flag-off ceremony in Maiduguri, the lawmaker reiterated his commitment to sustaining support for local farmers and ensuring equitable distribution of the inputs.
He sternly warned against the resale or diversion of the products, adding that similar support would soon be extended to farmers in Hawul LGA.
According to IReporter Online, Balami’s philanthropic actions come shortly after he was appointed Ad-hoc Chairman of the Committee on Flood and Management Response (CCFMR) — a role many political observers say reflects his proactive leadership during recent flooding crises in communities like Ghung, Kukurupu, and Saboda Allah.
In response to the flood, Balami had swiftly provided food items, clothing, and cash relief to victims.
The Borno State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also congratulated him on the new appointment, describing it as a well-earned recognition of his competence and dedication.
The party’s spokesperson, Amos Adziba, said Balami had brought pride and honour to the constituency, urging him to continue his selfless service to both Borno and Nigeria at large.
In his reaction, Dr. Balami expressed gratitude to the leadership of the National Assembly and thanked his supporters nationwide for their encouragement.
He pledged to work diligently with stakeholders to mitigate the devastating effects of floods and other natural disasters across Nigeria, stating, “Flood preparedness and response are non-negotiable priorities, and we must act with urgency and empathy to safeguard our communities.”
