Military Operation Eliminates Over 100 Bandits in Zamfara, Residents Praise Swift Action

Residents of Bukuyum in Zamfara State have commended the Nigerian Armed Forces following a decisive air strike that killed more than 100 armed bandits in a coordinated security offensive.

According to Ireporter Online, the Nigerian Air Force executed the raid on Thursday, targeting heavily fortified criminal hideouts in Bukuyum Local Government Area.

Witnesses described the mission as “swift, precise, and highly effective.”

The successful operation is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to security agencies to restore peace in the North-West, a region that has endured years of violent attacks.

Defence Minister Bello Matawalle, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa have been credited with leading and overseeing the offensive.

According to Ireporter Online, Matawalle, a former Zamfara State governor, has in recent weeks toured several communities in the North-West, meeting residents and troops to assess security needs and boost morale.

Bukuyum residents disclosed that they had previously written to Matawalle seeking urgent federal intervention, accusing Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal Dare of ignoring repeated appeals for assistance.

Security analysts believe the latest success should be used as a blueprint for sustained military operations against armed groups nationwide. Authorities have pledged to intensify offensives aimed at ending the cycle of violence in the North-West.

According to Ireporter Online, the operation marks a turning point in the federal government’s renewed determination to dismantle bandit networks and restore lasting peace to the region.
