“Shettima Pays Tribute As Ododo, APC Chairman Lose Parents”

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has extended heartfelt condolences to Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, over the passing of their respective parents, according to IReporter Online.

Governor Ododo’s father, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, passed away on Monday at the age of 83, while Professor Yilwatda’s mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda, died on Sunday morning at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, also at 83.

In a condolence message issued Tuesday, Vice-President Shettima described the twin losses as devastating not only to the bereaved families but also to the political community and the nation at large.

“The two deaths within such a short period leave a collective grief for our political family and indeed the entire nation,” Shettima stated.

He lauded the late Alhaji Ahmed Ododo as a respected community leader and devout Muslim whose values of discipline, humility, and integrity live on through his son’s leadership in Kogi State.

According to him, the elder Ododo’s legacy is most evident in the service-oriented governance style of Governor Ododo.

Similarly, Shettima praised Mama Lydia Yilwatda as a virtuous Christian leader and a matriarch in the Church of Christ in Nations.

He noted her significant role in the growth of the church across several states and emphasized the depth of her spiritual guidance and motherly influence on Professor Yilwatda’s life and leadership journey.

According to IReporter Online, the Vice-President acknowledged the emotional weight of losing one’s parents while serving in high office and encouraged both men to draw strength from the solid foundations their parents laid.

He stressed that both elders were guiding lights whose values will continue to shape future generations.

In his final words of condolence, Shettima offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased and for fortitude for both families in their moment of grief. According to IReporter Online, the Vice-President is expected to lead a federal delegation to personally commiserate with both leaders in the coming days.
