Major Setback For Chelsea: Noni Madueke Out For Six To Eight Weeks
Arsenal have suffered a setback after summer signing Noni Madueke was ruled out for at least six weeks with a knee injury sustained in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City.
The 23-year-old England international, who joined from Chelsea during the recent transfer window, was forced off at half-time after experiencing discomfort early in the game. While initial scans confirmed he avoided a serious ACL injury, further examinations will be required to determine the full extent of the damage.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Carabao Cup clash with Port Vale, manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the winger faces a spell on the sidelines. “It looks like Noni is going to be out for a few weeks, but we don’t really know yet. He felt something at the beginning of the match and tried to continue, but it became too sore,” Arteta said. “We hope it’s weeks rather than months, but we need another scan to be certain.”
Club medical staff are awaiting reduced swelling before delivering a final diagnosis. Current estimates suggest Madueke could return in November, potentially missing a string of key Premier League fixtures and Champions League ties. If his recovery progresses smoothly, he may be fit in time to face Sunderland on November 8 or even return for the north London derby against Tottenham on November 23.
The injury comes as a blow not only to Arsenal but also to England manager Thomas Tuchel, with Madueke’s bright start to the season placing him in contention for upcoming international matches against Wales and Latvia. His absence now casts doubt over his availability for World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania later this year.
