Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has dismissed speculation about his alleged departure from the All Progressives Congress, reaffirming that he remains a committed member of the ruling party.

The governor made the clarification on Wednesday while inspecting the newly reconstructed Rivers State Psychiatric Hospital, which has been upgraded into a general hospital in Rumuigbo, located in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Addressing reports circulating on social media, Fubara said interpretations suggesting he had left the APC were false and misleading. He stressed that his political affiliation remains unchanged and urged the public to disregard narratives that portray him otherwise.

The governor stated that he remains fully aligned with the APC and its broader objectives, insisting that he has not defected to any other political party.

Speaking on the hospital project, Fubara explained that the decision to convert the former psychiatric facility into a general hospital was informed by the urgent healthcare needs identified during an earlier assessment of the area.

According to him, many residents of Rumuigbo and surrounding communities had limited access to quality medical services, with the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital serving as the nearest major health institution, a distance he described as inconvenient for many people.

He noted that the state government considered it necessary to establish a functional general hospital within the community to provide accessible and efficient healthcare to residents.

Fubara expressed satisfaction over the completion of the project, describing it as another fulfilled promise by his administration and a reflection of his government’s commitment to implementing initiatives that directly improve the well-being of the people of Rivers State.
