“Why I’m Not Married To My Baby’s Father” — Seyi Shay Opens Up On Personal Decision
According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian music sensation Seyi Shay has opened up about her decision not to marry the father of her daughter, despite maintaining a close and respectful relationship with him.
In a candid conversation with media host Chude Jideonwo, the award-winning singer explained that her choice was deeply personal and shaped by practical considerations. Describing the situation as “technical,” she clarified that while marriage is not currently part of their plans, their friendship and shared parenting values remain strong.
Seyi Shay revealed that her relationship with her child’s father is built on mutual respect and understanding, emphasizing that they have created a healthy co-parenting environment focused on their daughter’s happiness and development. “He’s great, he’s cool, he’s around. He’s Nigerian, based in the UK, and works in the corporate side of the music industry,” she said, adding that they work hand-in-hand in raising their child.
The singer highlighted that their bond goes beyond romantic ties, stressing that their maturity and cooperation have allowed them to maintain peace and balance as co-parents.
Reflecting on motherhood, Seyi Shay noted that welcoming her daughter in 2022 marked a major turning point in her life. She shared that becoming a mother has reshaped her priorities, inspiring her to focus on love, purpose, and personal growth rather than societal pressure or expectations.
Known for chart-topping hits such as Right Now and Yolo Yolo, Seyi Shay described her journey as one of continuous learning and evolution — both as an artist and as a woman.
