Wike Strengthens FCT Team With New Appointment

According to Ireporter Online, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the appointment of Mukhtar Usman Galadima as Senior Special Assistant on Development Control and Planning.

The appointment, announced on Wednesday by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, takes immediate effect. Olayinka described Galadima as “a seasoned Town Planner with over 30 years of experience in the FCTA Department of Development Control,” emphasizing that his technical expertise will strengthen the minister’s team.

Galadima has held various positions within the Federal Capital Territory Administration and became Director of the Department of Development Control in 2016. He retired from civil service in November 2025. Throughout his career, he contributed to several key ministerial committees, including the Abuja Masterplan Restoration Task Team, the Committee on Review of Revoked Titles, and the Change of Land Use Committee.

In a related political development, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olabode George, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government of attempting to weaken the PDP and undermine Nigeria’s democracy. Addressing the state of the nation on Tuesday, George urged President Bola Tinubu to call the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to order and prevent interference in the PDP’s internal affairs.

Titled ‘Dear Mr President, our nation is wobbling politically,’ George’s address also criticised the APC government for prioritising political positioning ahead of the 2027 elections, while responding slowly to escalating insecurity, including abductions and killings across multiple states.
