NNPCL Alerts Public: Gas Plant Shutdown For Maintenance
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has informed the public that Seplat Energy Plc, a joint venture partner and key gas supplier to the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) pipeline network, will carry out routine maintenance on its gas production facilities from February 12 to 15, 2026.
NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andrew Odeh, made the announcement in a press statement on Thursday, emphasizing that the maintenance forms part of standard industry safety and asset integrity procedures. These measures are designed to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of critical gas infrastructure.
The statement noted that periodic maintenance of this nature is essential to sustain optimal system performance, strengthen operational resilience, and minimize the risk of unplanned outages. During the four-day exercise, gas supply into the NGIC pipeline is expected to temporarily decline, which may affect some power generation companies reliant on the network, potentially reducing electricity output.
NNPCL and Seplat Energy assured that the maintenance would be conducted safely and on schedule. Meanwhile, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is engaging alternative suppliers to mitigate supply gaps and maintain stability across the network. Full gas supply to the NGIC system is expected to resume promptly after the maintenance, enabling affected power generators to return to normal operations.
