According to Ireporter Online, the Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that TikTok user Mirabel is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit as investigations continue into her allegations of sexual assault.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief that the police made contact with the content creator earlier this week after her viral videos detailing the alleged attack sparked widespread reactions online.

Babaseyi said officers initially traced her to the Ibafo area before discovering that the incident reportedly occurred in Ogijo, a border community between Ogun and Lagos states. He explained that when the Divisional Police Officer in Ibafo met with Mirabel, she was taken to the hospital for medical analysis. “She wasn’t as stable as necessary, but we ensured the investigation continued. As we speak, she is in the intensive care unit getting appropriate care. Her medical well-being is more important to us at this point. When she is stable, we can now continue investigations and get the necessary facts,” he added.

The police spokesman emphasized that further details would be obtained once Mirabel is medically stable enough to provide a comprehensive account. He also cautioned the public against drawing premature conclusions, stressing that the investigation would be guided by evidence. “We advise people not to jump to conclusions based on emotions. We are investigating and will rely on evidence to reach a logical conclusion,” Babaseyi said, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Babaseyi dismissed online claims that Mirabel had been arrested, clarifying, “She was not arrested by the police. She reported a case, and we are investigating. Nothing of such as her arrest happened.” He added that anyone found culpable would face prosecution, while false reporting, if established, would also carry legal consequences.

Mirabel gained widespread attention after posting emotional videos on February 15, alleging that an intruder entered her apartment, assaulted her, and later contacted her via social media. The posts sparked the viral #StopRapingWomen campaign. Initially engaged by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, the case’s jurisdiction shifted to the Ogun State Police Command, where the incident reportedly occurred.
