BREAKING: “Serial Disrespect” Sparks Drama As Senate Orders Arrest Of CAC Registrar

The decision was reached on Thursday during a budget defence session involving the Federal Ministry of Finance and its affiliated agencies. Chairman of the committee, Senator Sani Musa, accused the Registrar General of persistently ignoring summons issued by lawmakers, describing the development as unacceptable.

Musa stated that the committee had repeatedly invited the CAC chief to address concerns surrounding discrepancies in the reconciliation of the commission’s revenue. He alleged that rather than appearing in person, Magaji had consistently delegated junior officers to represent him before the panel.

The issue was first brought to the floor by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who urged the committee to consider recommending Magaji’s removal to Bola Tinubu. Kalu reportedly argued that the pattern of non-compliance signified a disregard for the Senate and undermined the oversight responsibilities of the National Assembly.

Adding to the growing tension, Senator Adams Oshiomhole proposed that the Senate withhold approval of any budgetary allocation to the CAC in the 2026 Appropriation Act until the Registrar General personally appears before the committee. He further suggested that the commission be barred from expending its Internally Generated Revenue without prior approval from the legislature.

The committee endorsed the recommendations, signaling a potential intensification of legislative scrutiny over the commission’s financial operations. Lawmakers maintained that their primary concern centers on unresolved questions relating to the CAC’s revenue profile and financial reconciliation.
