The mother of Asake has opened up about a pivotal moment in the singer’s early life, revealing how he declined an opportunity to study in the United Kingdom in favour of pursuing his education in Nigeria.

According to Ireporter Online, she disclosed during a recent appearance on a YouTube podcast that she had made extensive preparations for her son to travel abroad, including raising funds and securing an international passport. However, she was taken aback when the fast-rising music star insisted on enrolling at Obafemi Awolowo University, located in Ile-Ife.

She explained that her initial concerns about his strong-willed nature made her hesitant to support the decision, but reassurance from a family acquaintance, Muyideen Oladapo, helped change her mind. The actor reportedly played a key role in facilitating the singer’s admission into the institution.

The singer eventually studied Performing Arts at the university, a discipline he later credited with significantly influencing his artistic development and creative direction.

Reflecting on the experience, she recounted how his determination shaped the outcome, noting that despite her plans to send him abroad, he remained resolute about furthering his education locally.

During the same podcast, the singer also shed light on the origin of his nickname “Giran,” explaining that it translates to “stubborn” in Yoruba, a trait that appears to have played a defining role in his journey.
