Obasanjo, during a visit to Yale University, condemned President Tinubu’s economic policies, highlighting the hardships Nigerians are enduring due to the current government’s actions. In defense of Tinubu, Temitope Ajayi, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, questioned Obasanjo’s moral authority on issues like corruption and electoral integrity.

Despite these attacks, Ibe defended Obasanjo, emphasizing that his economic track record as the first president of Nigeria’s fourth republic remains unmatched by Tinubu. He argued that Obasanjo, a figure with no history of corruption or scandals, is respected globally and has implemented policies that have been beneficial to Nigeria’s development.

Ibe also stated that unlike some political figures, Obasanjo has always remained loyal to Nigeria, with no record of financial misconduct or criminal behavior. He further asserted that President Tinubu cannot compare to Obasanjo in terms of national importance and leadership.
