Niger Tornadoes Cash In ₦2m Bonus After Sh*cking Rivers United Victory — NPFL Matchday 31 Heats Up
Niger Tornadoes have been rewarded with a cash bonus of ₦2 million following their narrow 1-0 victory over Rivers United in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League encounter.
According to Ireporter Online, the match, held at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna, was decided by a crucial goal from Terdoo Shimagande, whose effort secured all three points for the home side. The financial incentive was announced shortly after the game by the Chairman of the Niger State Sports Commission, Danjuma Abdul Masu, as part of efforts to commend the team’s performance.
The win has seen Niger Tornadoes climb to 10th position on the league table, amassing 39 points from 30 matches, thereby easing concerns around their campaign as the season approaches its closing stages. Reacting to the result, the team’s technical adviser, Majin Mohammed, expressed optimism that the victory would serve as a catalyst for improved performances, noting that such outcomes significantly boost the squad’s morale.
Attention now shifts to their upcoming away fixture against Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium, where the Minna-based side will be aiming to secure consecutive victories for the first time in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Rivers United, who still occupy the top spot despite the defeat, face increased pressure as the title race intensifies heading into their next match.
