Ex-US Mayor Drops Bombshell: Britain Owes Biafra $6 Trillion
According to Ireporter Online, Mike Arnold, a former Mayor of Blanco City, Texas, has accused the British government of deliberately ignoring Biafra to avoid paying reparations estimated at $6 trillion to the people of the region. Arnold, who has publicly supported the Biafra cause, made the claims in a post titled “Britain’s bill is due” on his verified Facebook page.
Arnold argued that an independent Biafra nation could legally demand payment from Britain, and he described the sum as potentially the largest reparations claim in history, equating to twice Britain’s annual GDP. He traced Britain’s actions against the Igbos to the 1914 amalgamation of Nigeria’s northern and southern protectorates under Lord Lugard, which he described as a deliberate strategy to maintain Northern administrative control and secure oil resources for London.
He further alleged that during the Biafran War in the late 1960s, the British government secretly armed the Nigerian military, enforcing a blockade that caused widespread famine and resulted in the deaths of up to three million people, most of them children. Arnold cited declassified British documents, Parliamentary records, and Shell-BP operational reports to support his claim.
According to Arnold, the $6 trillion figure was calculated through several factors: oil revenue from Biafran territory, wrongful death compensations, structural damages stemming from over a century of British colonial policy, obstruction of humanitarian aid, and interest accumulation. He maintained that Britain has never apologized, acknowledged its role in history textbooks, or paid reparations.
Arnold concluded that the figure, based on documented evidence, represents a conservative estimate and underscores the scale of what he described as an ongoing historical injustice against the people of Biafra.
