Kogi Assembly Confirms Ex-APC Chairman Bello As Commissioner

The Kogi State House of Assembly has formally screened and confirmed Abdullahi Bello, the immediate past chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, as a commissioner in the State Executive Council. According to Ireporter Online, Bello’s confirmation followed his nomination by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who called on lawmakers to carry out the screening in accordance with constitutional provisions.

During plenary, the Assembly, sitting as the Committee of the Whole, examined the nominee and approved his appointment. Bello, popularly known as “Dollar,” was subsequently confirmed as a member of the state executive council. Lawmakers commended his leadership in strengthening the APC and acknowledged his contributions to the party’s electoral successes in Kogi State. They expressed confidence that his experience would enhance governance and service delivery across the state.

Following his confirmation, Bello assured that his tenure would prioritize improving the welfare of local government workers. The new commissioner, expected to oversee the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and reiterated his commitment to advancing worker welfare.

Addressing the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, Bello stated that there is no formidable opposition to the APC in Kogi State. He credited the party’s strength in the state and across the country to the performance of President Bola Tinubu and praised Governor Ododo for working to meet the aspirations of the people. Bello expressed confidence that the APC would dominate future elections in Kogi, describing the 2027 polls as “a walkover” for the party.
