President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep relief and happiness following the successful rescue of abducted children and teachers from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, by security operatives.
According to Ireporter Online, the President commended the bravery and commitment of security agencies, particularly the military, Department of State Services (DSS), and the police, for their relentless efforts in ensuring the safe return of the victims after more than 50 days in captivity.
Tinubu praised the agencies for carrying out a coordinated operation that resulted in the rescue of the children and their teachers without any collateral damage. He also revealed that eight of the abductors were arrested, while others were neutralised during the operation.
The President acknowledged the emotional and psychological trauma suffered by the victims, their families, and Nigerians since the abduction occurred, describing the incident as a painful experience for the nation.
He also applauded the Oyo State Government for its cooperation with the Federal Government throughout the rescue process, urging authorities in the state to strengthen security measures around schools to prevent future attacks.
Tinubu stated that the successful operation brought an end to the prolonged fear and uncertainty surrounding the abduction, adding that it had provided relief to the affected families and the entire country.
He expressed appreciation to officers of the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and the police for their dedication and sacrifice in securing the release of the victims.
The President further assured that justice would be pursued for the rescued children, their teachers, and the family of Mr Oyedokun, who was reportedly killed by the abductors during the incident.
Tinubu has also directed relevant emergency agencies to collaborate with the Oyo State Government to provide medical care, rehabilitation, and other necessary support for the rescued children and teachers as they recover from their ordeal.
