The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning against the circulation of a viral poster falsely claiming that Nigerian comedian Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, popularly known as Sabinus, is wanted by the agency. According to EFCC’s official handle, the poster, which displayed the EFCC logo and alleged that Sabinus, 43, was wanted for obtaining money by false pretence, is “FAKE NEWS.” The poster also cited a purported last known address on Ligali Ayomide Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, which the commission denied. EFCC condemned the misleading claims, urging the public to stop spreading the information.

In a related development, the EFCC addressed its inability to act on claims made by relationship expert Blessing CEO regarding her cancer diagnosis and fundraising. Last month, Blessing CEO stated that she had stage four breast cancer and appealed for financial support from Nigerians. She later clarified that she does not have stage four cancer, attributing earlier reports to a misunderstanding, and confirmed that she received ₦13 million, not the widely circulated figure of ₦100 million.

The EFCC explained that no formal petition has been filed against Blessing CEO, and the commission requires a legitimate complainant to initiate an investigation or take the matter to court. The clarification comes amid public outrage on social media, where users called on the anti-graft agency to act against the media personality.
