Individuals Are Financing Bomb Attacks To Shift Focus From Tinubu” – Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has attributed the recent surge in insecurity across Nigeria to alleged actions by opposition figures, whom he accused of attempting to undermine the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

According to a report by Ireporter Online, Akpabio made the remarks on Tuesday during the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), where he commended the President’s leadership and ongoing reforms. He alleged that certain political actors, driven by envy over the administration’s achievements, were sponsoring bomb attacks to divert attention from governance and create instability ahead of upcoming elections.

The Senate President maintained that the pattern of insecurity was politically motivated, suggesting that such incidents were deliberately orchestrated to instill fear among citizens and discredit the government. He further claimed that the situation would significantly improve after the elections, asserting that those behind the attacks would cease their activities once their objectives had been met.

Akpabio also argued that the performance of President Tinubu had weakened the opposition’s ability to mount a formidable challenge, prompting what he described as desperate tactics. He added that the administration’s policies had attracted a growing number of political leaders, including governors, into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing increased support for the President’s agenda.

In addition, he criticized opposition parties for what he described as internal instability, stating that they had failed to effectively organize themselves.

Defending the administration’s economic policies, Akpabio highlighted the removal of petrol subsidy as a critical decision that helped avert fiscal collapse. He explained that the policy had curtailed entrenched corruption and freed up government revenue for infrastructure and development projects.

The Senate President also pointed to ongoing transformation in the Federal Capital Territory, crediting the Tinubu administration with reviving abandoned infrastructure projects and improving road networks. He further praised the appointment of Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, describing it as a demonstration of inclusiveness across party lines.
