Veteran Nollywood actor, Kola Oyewo, has spoken candidly about his ongoing battle with prostate enlargement and how it has significantly impacted his health and acting career. According to a media report, the respected thespian disclosed this during a recent interaction with fellow actor Kunle Afod at his residence.

Oyewo revealed that the condition has limited his ability to take on demanding roles, noting that he can now only manage less physically intensive performances. Recounting the onset of the illness, he explained that he began experiencing persistent sleepless nights and frequent urination, which eventually led him to seek medical attention. He added that, at times, he struggled with urinary control before reaching the restroom, prompting further medical evaluation that confirmed an enlarged prostate.

Despite the challenges, the actor expressed gratitude for his recovery progress, acknowledging that while he may not return to his previous level of strength, he remains thankful for life and gradual improvement. He also reflected on the realities of aging, noting that some of his peers remain stronger, but he considers himself fortunate to still be alive.

Kola Oyewo, who began his acting career in 1964, rose to prominence through notable productions such as The Gods Are Not to Blame and Sango. Beyond his contributions to the film industry, he also served as a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, from 1996 until his retirement in 2011.
